Ben Huskey marks newest addition to Golden Eagle golf program

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Head coach Polk Brown added the final piece to the recruiting puzzle for the Tennessee Tech men's golf team, rounding out the 2014-15 class by recently signing Sevier County High School's Ben Huskey.

"We're very excited to have Ben join our roster for next season," Brown said. "I think he is an outstanding young man and should be a fine addition to our team."

A four-year letterwinner while at SCHS, Huskey racked up numerous awards in his high school career, headlined by All-State nods his senior season. The future Golden Eagle also earned all-conference and all-district honors in each of his final three years, as well as an all-region nod as a senior.

"The first day I stepped foot on campus, I knew Tennessee Tech was the place I belonged," Huskey said. "I look forward to competing at the next level, being part of the Golden Eagle family, and to our pursuit to reach new heights as a program."

And there's a good chance it won't take long for Huskey to contribute to those new heights. As a senior, he finished third at the TSSAA State Tournament, recording the highest finish in school history. He also broke the single nine-hole match scoring record at SCHS, carding a score of 5-under-par.

"Ben's accolades speak for themselves," Brown added. "I have no doubt that he will bring the same work ethic that has brought him these accomplishments from junior golf over to the college ranks. I anticipate that he will make an immediate impact upon his arrival and contribute to our success going forward."

Huskey joins Notre Dame High School's Alexander Riddle as Brown's newest additions to the Golden Eagle squad for the 2014-15 season.
