GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The spring season is officially under way for the Tennessee Tech men's golf team as the Golden Eagles complete 36 of its 54 holes at the Snowman Getaway in Goodyear, Ariz.

Located at the Palm Valley Golf Club, a 7,015-yard, par-72 course, the Tech squad fought its way to 13th position after two rounds of play in a 17-team field. The Golden Eagles currently sit ahead of both Ohio Valley Conference foes also participating in the event. Murray State ranks 15th and SIUE is in 17th place.

Leading the way for the Golden Eagles through the first two rounds was wiley veteran Lee Whitehead, who carded a career-low 65 in Round Two. The score, which was the second-lowest shot on the day, coupled with his first-round 73, was good enough to leave the junior tied for sixth place after the first day of play with a 138.

Sophomore Adam Cunningham put together two consistent rounds, turning in a first-round 74 and second-round 75 for a 149. Not far behind was redshirt junior Mason Griffin, putting up a 150 on the day. Griffin rebounded from a 79 in Round One with an impressive 71 over the second 18 holes.

Following suit, sophomores Mitchell Thomas and Bryce Kendrick chimed in with a 151 and 153, respectively. Thomas improved three strokes between rounds, carding a second-round 74 after putting together a 77 in Round One. Kendrick played both rounds similarly, scoring a 76 followed by a 77.

The Golden Eagles will wrap up the Snowman Getaway on Tuesday with the final 18 holes beginning with a 9 a.m. CT shotgun start.
