COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – For three Tennessee Tech athletics staffers, it's hard to call it a homecoming, but for Allison Boshears, Taylor Monette and Elijah Potter, it was even harder to stay away.

Boshears recently returned to Tech as a marketing and promotions coordinator, while Monette and Potter accepted their first full-time appointments to the athletic department staff, as a marketing and promotions coordinator and a facility and events coordinator respectively.

"I am thrilled to be back," Boshears said. "There's a contagious energy surrounding Athletics that I am really lucky to be a part of. Athletics is a family that constantly expects us to be at our best for our student-athletes. We have a dynamic unlike any other at TTU Athletics. I could not get back soon enough."

Boshears, an Oak Ridge native who earned her bachelor's degree in communications in 2014, previously worked for two years at Tech, before spending a year working with the Tennessee Secretary of State's Office in the Division of Elections before returning to Cookeville and her alma mater.

"Coming back, I knew there was work to be done," Boshears said. "We have exceptional leadership that pushes us to be engaging and cutting-edge marketers. We're really blessed to be able to get up in the mornings and do what we love."

Boshears joins Monette, a Spring 2017 graduate from Tech with a bachelor's in business administration and a focus in marketing. Monette was also no stranger to the department, serving as a student worker in the Fall 2016 semester, then interning in Spring 2017.

"It's hard not to be excited about Tech athletics," Monette, a Smithville native, said. "There are a lot of exciting things in the works here and we all want to be a part of what happens next. There's also not a lot of jobs that truly has the family dynamic that we have here, so that's an added bonus.

"The student-athletes here work tirelessly to represent the university, so it's important for us to get the word out and help build support for them."

Potter, like Monette, earned his bachelor's degree in the Spring 2017 semester, his in sports management with a minor in business. The Smyrna native also interned with Tech Athletics, serving in a marketing, facilities and game/event management role.

"I am really thrilled to be here," Potter said. "I've worked with the guys here last semester, so I already know what it's like and what's required. It really feels like coming home again."

He had previous experience with the Nashville Sounds minor league baseball club as a lead fan host from 2015 to 2017, as well as a guest relations/season ticket activation associate this season.

"Even though it's a new role, this is nothing new," Potter said. "It's something that I've really been around most of my life and something that I've grown up wanting to do. I just landed in the right spot, I guess.

"It's fun. I like college athletics a little bit more than pro sports because there's something new every day. I'm not stuck in one motion and doing the same routine. I've got to adapt and there's always something I can learn."
