Golden Eagles close out regular season with top-10 showings at Angel Mounds Invitational

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – For the second straight meet, the Tennessee Tech cross country teams each secured a top-10 finish, competing at the Angel Mounds Invitational in Evansville, Ind.

The Golden Eagle women produced a sixth-place performance among 15 teams at the event. The Tech men delivered a seventh-place showing out of 19 teams.

For the fourth meet in as many competed this year, Helen Pacurariu-Nagy finished 16th out of the 168 participants in the women's 6K. The senior crossed the finish line with a time of 22:17.5.

Right on her teammate's tail was rookie Makaleigh Jessee, placing 17th overall. The freshman sprinted to a mark of 22:20.6 in her first 6K at the collegiate level.

In the men's 8K, it was Miceal McCaul capturing another top-10 finish to pace the Golden Eagles. The junior clocked in a mark of 25:14.0 to rank ninth among the 174 runners.

Not far behind his teammate, McNeese transfer James Hyland turned in a 15th-place display, completing the course at 25:23.9. Sophomore Isaac Legault helped the purple and gold effort, clocking in at 27:05.2.

The Golden Eagles will compete next in Morehead, Ky. at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28.

"We are very excited to set our sights on the OVC Championships at the end of the month," Tech head coach Peter Dalton said. "We've performed well this year and have been showing steady improvement across the season. We will get back to work in the coming weeks as we prepare for the trip to Morehead."
