Golden Eagles conclude first day of play at Spring Break Shootout

DADE CITY, Fla. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team concluded both the first and second rounds of action at the Spring Break Shootout presented by Srixon Golf Monday afternoon, finishing ranked ninth out of the 13 teams participating in the event hosted by both Western Kentucky and Southern Miss.

The Golden Eagles tallied rounds of 305 and 312 while at Lake Jovita Golf Club, finishing with a 617 overall to rank eight strokes ahead of Ohio Valley Conference rival Jacksonville State. TTU also trails St. John's by just eight strokes and North Florida by 11.

Tying for ninth among the 77-player field and leading the Golden Eagles on day one was senior Whitney Robertson. The veteran fired rounds of 75 and 73 for a 4-over 148. Just two strokes behind her teammate, junior Allyson Dunn tied for 17th after tallying marks of 73 and 77 for a 6-over 150.

Another veteran, senior Lydia Triplett, finished next among Tech's players with a 159 overall. Triplett posted scores of 78 and 81 to tie for 46th. Redshirt freshman Arianna Clemmer finished just one stroke back of Triplett, tying for 49th overall with rounds of 79 and 81 for a 160.

Rounding out the Tech participants in Dade City, Fla. was sophomore Hollee Sadler, who totaled a 164 while carding an 81 and 83.

The Golden Eagles are set to kick off the third and final round of the Spring Break Shootout with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start Tuesday morning.
