GREENSBORO, N.C. – It was a first day just like any coach would script for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team Monday, as the Golden Eagles put together back-to-back brilliant rounds of play at the Starmount Forest Fall Classic to head into the final day and round of the event atop the leaderboard.

After putting together a tournament-leading 306 over its first 18 holes of play, the Golden Eagle squad took it to a whole different level in the second round, firing a 297 to extend its lead over host UNCG and Winthrop to a solid 13 strokes heading into the final day.

Sophomore Hollee Sadler paced the Tech five on the day, wrapping up play in the top spot in the entire field of 65. The second-year player turned in rounds of 74 and 72 for a 146, edging Winthrop's Ashley Sloup by a stroke for the tournament lead.

Finishing second among the Golden Eagles at Starmount Country Club was senior Whitney Robertson, who tied for fourth after carding a 77-72=150 in her first experience at the par-71, 6,118-yard course.

Not far behind and no doubt a huge part of the dominant performance through the first two rounds was junior Allyson Dunn. She completed the day with a 152 to tie for seventh place after posting rounds of 74 and 78.

Another Golden Eagle found herself ranked in the top-15 on the leaderboard, tying for 13th overall through two rounds of action. After posting an 81 over her first 18 holes, redshirt freshman Shelby Johnson rebounded in a big way, turning in a second-round 74 for a 155 overall score.

Rounding out the Tech participants, Lindsay Miller finished her first event of the 2016-17 campaign ranked in tie for 30th overall. The sophomore carded an 82-79=161 for the day.

"We're definitely excited about tomorrow," head coach Polk Brown said. "The women played great today, but we have to treat tomorrow just like any other day. We are in great position and, if we can go out there and take it one shot at a time, we will be fine."
