Tech closes out regular season with Friday's Chattanooga Invitational

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech cross country teams wrap up their respective regular seasons Friday morning, heading south for the Chatanooga Invitational located at Camp Jordan in Chattanooga.

Competition for the purple and gold kicks off with the women's 5K at 8:00 a.m. CT. Tech will then compete in the men's 8K meet at approximately 8:45 a.m.

In Tech's most recent outing, sophomore Miceal McCaul paced the men's effort at the Live in Lou Classic, placing 10th overall among more than 300 runners. He clocked in with a new personal-best time of 24:32.4 in the 8K race. 

Junior Dominic Smith delivered a top-25 finish with a time of 24:48.7, a season-best attempt. Five more Golden Eagles posted career-best showings, including Chase Faudi, Samuel Goodchild, Nick Beattie, Carter Bradford, and Isaac Legault.

For the women, junior Helen Pacurariu-Nagy was the lead Golden Eagle, finishing 45th with a time of 18:39.3 in the 5K race. Cookeville native Maddie Long exploded for a new PR on the day, dropping nearly 20 seconds off her previous best mark with a time of 19:08.9.

The Field
The Chattanooga Invitational consists of host Chattanooga, as well as Bryan College, Tennessee Tech, and several local and unattached college runners.

Up Next
Following this weekend's race, the Golden Eagles will return to Cookeville to host the Ohio Valley Conference Championships at the Putnam County Sports Complex on Saturday, Oct. 29.
