2023-24 (Freshman): Layton appeared in all 31 of Tech’s contests in his rookie season, making 14 starts while averaging 20.9 minutes per game… averaged 4.4 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 0.6 steals per game… shot 37.4 percent from the floor, 33.7 percent from 3-point range, and 82.6 percent from the charity stripe… made his collegiate debut with two points, two steals, and an assist in 16 minutes off the bench at #9 Tennessee (Nov. 6)… poured in a season-high 14 points in two of the final three games of the year, including the final home tilt with Eastern Illinois (Feb. 24) and the season finale at Little Rock (Mar. 2)… hauled in a season-best five rebounds at UT Martin (Feb. 29)… dished out a season-high four assists against Tennessee State (Feb. 13)… sunk a season-high four triples against Eastern Illinois (Feb. 24)… scored in double figures five times during the year, including each of the final three games… racked up multiple assists eight times and multiple steals six times… made at least one triple in 20 games and multiple in eight tilts… started each of the final 14 games of the year.

High School: Layton lettered at Mountain Brook High School in Mountain Brook, Ala. for head coach Tyler Davis… led MBHS to a runner-up finish in the Alabama Class 6A state title game as a senior after falling in the regional final to the eventual state champion the previous two years… averaged 14.9 points, three assists, and three steals per game while sinking 105 attempts from distance as a junior… earned All-South Metro Third Team honors after leading the team in scoring in 2021-22… went down with a lower-body injury during the summer prior to his senior campaign, missing all but the final few weeks… coming off the bench in the state title game, buried 5-of-8 attempts from downtown to finish with 15 points… led MBHS to both district and region titles.
