COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After leading the Tennessee Tech men's basketball team to two Ohio Valley Conference victories last week, helping the Golden Eagles remain undefeated in league play at 3-0, senior Kajon Mack has earned his first career adidas® OVC Newcomer of the Week honors.

Mack sparked a 12-point Golden Eagle rally Thursday evening against Austin Peay, scoring 16 points, hauling in four rebounds, dishing out three assists and making three steals. He finished a meticulous 7-for-9 from the floor in the contest, making every shot count in the Tech victory.

The Los Angeles native followed that up with another stat-stuffing performance on Saturday, lifting Tech to a 71-67 win against long-time OVC rival Murray State. Mack again made every shot count, finishing 5-for-6 from the floor, 3-for-3 from 3-point range and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe on his way to 17 points.

He added six rebounds, four assists, a block and two steals in the contest, the Golden Eagles' second straight victory over the Racers for the first time in 10 years.

In OVC play, Mack ranks fifth in the league in scoring, averaging 18.3 points per game, in addition to 5.7 rebounds. He also ranks fifth in field goal percentage at 69.2 from the field. His 2.0 steals per game rank him fourth and he also ranks in the top five in free throw percentage (tied for first at a perfect 100 percent) and 3-point percentage (third at 63.6).

Mack also took home College Sports Madness Ohio Valley Men's Basketball Player of Week honors for his efforts.

The Golden Eagles will continue OVC play at Southeast Missouri Tuesday evening in a 6:30 p.m. CT contest.
