COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team is
ready for its five-game home stretch, hosting Georgia State on
April 21 and 22, before UT Martin visits for a three-game Ohio
Valley Conference series April 25 and 26.
Georgia State comes to Cookeville with a 25-14 record, and has been
solid away from home, going 11-6 on the road. Marc Mimeault is
leading the way for the Panthers, hitting .370, and leading the
team in home runs with eight. Chase Childres currently best on the
team in RBIs, as he has knocked in 42 runs this year.
On the mound for Georgia State against Tech will be John Locklear
and Adam Knight. Locklear is third on the team in ERA at 6.29 with
a 4-4 record, while Knight has a 6.85 ERA and a 1-3 record in eight
appearances, including five starts this season.
UT Martin enters the week at 13-22 overall and 3-9 in the OVC. The
Skyhawks have the fourth highest team batting average in the OVC,
hitting .327 as a team, and boast two players with averages over
.400 with Scott Gladstone, hitting .432, and Miles Hartsfield,
hitting .415. Skyhawk pitchers have not had as much success
however, as UTM is last in the OVC in team ERA at 8.28.
Tech will be looking to continue its momentum in conference play,
and gain ground in the OVC standings. In Tech’s last two
conference series’, the Golden Eagles are 4-1, and are now
just a half game out of the final OVC tournament spot with three
conference weekends remaining.
Tech and Georgia State will start at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14,
and throw the first pitch at 3 p.m. on April 15. The Golden Eagles
and Skyhawks double header will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, with a
single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Tech will be on the road for four games next week, playing a
non-conference game at Western Carolina on April 29, before
traveling to Murray State for a three-game OVC series on May 2 and
3.
