COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team (7-14, 3-5 OVC) is revved up and ready to take on their next OVC opponent, hot off a two-game winning streak. The Golden Eagles head to Morehead, Ky. to compete against Morehead State (8-13, 2-5 OVC) in a 4:30 p.m. contest at the Ellis T. Johnson Arena on Wednesday.

Morehead State hosts the Golden Eagles to round out their three-game home stand. The Eagles last saw victory over Jacksonville State when they defeated the Gamecocks 67-63, while the Golden Eagles recently saw victory over Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee State.

Tech stands eighth in the OVC with a 3-5-conference record, while Morehead maintains a 2-5 OVC record right behind the Golden Eagles in ninth place.

In the series, Tech leads Morehead 58-22, however, the Eagles saw victory most recently in the 2014-15 season when Morehead defeated the Golden Eagles 90-82.

Senior Samaria Howard is making a huge impact on the Tech team. Howard (recently named co-OVC player of the week) averages 20.4 points and 5.5 boards per game. She shoots 41 percent from the field, 27.9 percent from the 3-point range, and 77.2 percent from the line. Her 20.4 points per game rank her 2nd in the OVC and 22nd in the NCAA, while her 428 total points on the season rank her 10th in the NCAA, her 112 made free throws rank her 9th, and her 152 made field goals rank her 12th.

A familiar face rejoins the Golden Eagle lineup as a graduate student: Candace Parson. Parson sat out most of her freshman and sophomore seasons due to knee injuries and was granted another season with the Tech team beginning last weekend. She had a strong first showing at Eastern Kentucky dropping 12 points and connecting on 5-of-11 from the floor and 2-of-4 from the line, while adding 4 rebounds and 1 steal to the Golden Eagle victory.

As a team, Tech shoots 39.4 percent from the field, 28.2 percent from beyond the arc, and 69.3 percent from the line. The Golden Eagles average 61.3 points and 36.2 boards per game while giving up 18.5 turnovers.

Morehead shoots 40.2 percent from the floor, 30.4 percent from the 3-point range, and 70.7 percent from the line. The Eagles average 81.8 points and 46.4 rebounds per game while giving up 19.5 turnovers.

Eriel McKee and Brianna McQueen are two key players on the Morehead roster. McKee averages 14.7 points and 7 boards per game and shoots 41.9 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the line. McQueen averages 14.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game and shoots 34.6 percent from the field and 80 percent from the line.
