COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—It's that time we've all been waiting for: basketball season. The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team is kicking off this year with an exhibition game against Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Eblen Center.

The Bulldogs are a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) who primarily competes in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (a Division II sanction). The Golden Eagles have been hosting the Bulldogs since the 2009-10 season, and maintain a 5-0 record over the team.

Into the 2015-16 season, the Tech team returns seven players, and welcomes six newcomers to the squad. Senior, Samaria Howard is expected to do big things again for the Golden Eagles this season as she was named to the 2015-16 Preseason All-OVC team. Last year, Howard was named to the 2014-15 All-Newcomer and All-OVC second teams. Howard averaged 15.6 points per game, while shooting 40.2-percent from the field. She finished the season with an impressive 81.3-precent from the free throw line and recorded a team-best four double-doubles.

Another key player in the Tech lineup is junior and Cookeville native, Hannah Goolsby. Goolsby served as a sharpshooter on the Golden Eagle squad last season and hit a team-high 39 three-point field goals. Goolsby dished out 55 assists on the season and averaged 31-percent from the field.
