COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—After only a couple days rest, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team (0-2, 0-0 OVC) gets right back into action when they host Georgia State (1-0) in a 6 p.m. contest on Thursday at the Eblen Center.

The Golden Eagles opened season play against Arkansas State last Saturday where they fell 77-55, and then took on Mercer in a Monday contest where they were defeated 63-47.

As a team, Tech averages 29.3-percent from the field, and 26.7-percent from the line. The Golden Eagles have a lot of fresh faces on the team, so they are still undergoing development to get the team in sync both offensively and defensively.

Highlighting the Tech program is senior, Samaria Howard. Howard has posted 13.5 points in the last two games going 9-for-30 from the field and 9-for-11 at the three-point range. Junior, and Cookeville product Hannah Goolsby has put up 12 points for the Golden Eagles squad, averaging 46.7-percent from the field and 45.5-percent from the three-point range. Making a name for herself as a newcomer is junior, Takisha Jordan. Jordan is a transfer from Northwest Florida State, and has put up 8.5 points for Tech thus far, hitting 6-of-20 from the field and connecting on 5-of-10 at the line.

Georgia State is highlighted by Makeba Ponder, a 5-8-sophomore guard, who led the Sun Belt Conference in three-point baskets made per game (2.5). She put up 19 points against Kennesaw State this year to lead the Panthers, going 6-for-14 from the field and 4-9 from the three-point range. Another player to watch on the Georgia State team is Madison Newby, a 5-8-freshman guard. Newby posted 10 points in the Panther's season opener, hitting a solid 66.7-percent from the field and 40-percent from the line.

Season and game tickets can be purchased by visiting the Athletic Ticket Office in the Eblen Center or by calling (931) 372-3940. Tickets may also be purchased online at TTUsports.com.
