MARTIN, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech softball team (13-23, 4-8 OVC) split games in the doubleheader versus UT Martin (22-16, 7-5 OVC) on Saturday in Martin, Tenn.

The Golden Eagles saw victory, 1-0, in eight innings in game one of the doubleheader. Freshman Jessie Lowery drove in the only Tech run hitting an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth to claim victory for Tech.

Danielle Liberatore (8-11) saw victory in the circle for the Golden Eagles, pitching all eight innings and striking out 12 and walking none. Brooke Kennedy (11-7) suffered the loss for the Skyhawks pitching eight innings and allowing one run on four hits and striking out 10 and walking one.

Tech wasted no time getting on the board in game two. Alyssa Richards came up to the dish and hit an RBI single to right center in the top of the first to give the Golden Eagles the early 1-0 lead. UT Martin came back in the bottom of the first to put two on the board and take the 2-1 lead off of a two-RBI double to left center.

Tech then retook the lead in the top of the second, 3-2, when freshman Gabby LaSala hit an RBI single up the middle to drive in Sarah Freels and then Jessie Lowery stole home while Gabby Perez stole second. The Skyhawks came back in the bottom of the third to notch two runs off of two-RBI single through the left side, which allowed UT Martin to retake the lead at 4-3. The Skyhawks extended their lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth when Duncan stole home as Fulcher was stealing second.

Hannah Weaver (2-6) suffered the loss, pitching two innings and allowing four runs on two hits and walking five. Warrick (1-0) got the win for UT Martin pitching six innings and allowing no runs on three hits and struck out five.

The Golden Eagles will continue their road stand tomorrow as they travel to Southeast Missouri for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
