OXFORD, Ala.—The Tennessee Tech softball (23-33, 14-13 OVC) season officially came to an end Thursday when the Golden Eagles fell to Morehead State (26-26, 12-12 OVC) on day two of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. The No. 7 seed Eagles defeated Tech, the No. 6 seed, 2-1, at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. to knock the Golden Eagles out of the tourney.

A Tech error led to a Morehead State two-run first inning and gave the Eagles an early lead over the Golden Eagles. Morehead State took advantage of a Tech throwing error to notch their first run of the day, and then followed with an Eagle double through the right side to round out its second and final run of the day in the first inning.

Sarah Freels put the Golden Eagles on the score board when she opened up the bottom of the fifth with a solo blast to right center, cutting the Morehead State lead to 2-1. However, despite putting runners in scoring position, Tech could not generate a comeback and Morehead State took the 2-1 victory to advance to day three of the OVC Tournament.

Danielle Liberatore (15-14) suffered the loss for the Golden Eagles pitching the complete game. Liberatore allowed two runs (one earned) off of four hits, and retired three at the dish in the contest. Allison Rager (14-6) saw victory for the Eagles. Rager pitched the complete game and allowed just one run off of six hits, while striking out three.
