COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Tech softball coach Tory Acheson has set the dates for hosting his annual Holiday Mini Camp. This year's camp will be held December 28-29 at the Hyder-Burks Agricultural Pavilion in Cookeville.

For serious softball players, this Holiday Mini Camp is designed to give campers a concentrated dose of softball instruction, including a college prep seminar to learn about the recruiting process, plus pitching and catching clinics. The pace will be quick, and all aspects of the game will be covered.

An addition this year is a separate Pitcher/Catcher Clinic, offering players at those positions an opportunity to receive more individual instruction.

The Mini Camp will feature Tech head coach Tory Acheson along with current and former team members. A nationally known speaker and clinician with appearances at the NCAA Yes Clinic, National Sport Clinics, Nike Camps, Championship Softball Camps, and many state and local events, Acheson has been the director of Championship Softball Camps at Tech for the past nine years.

The Mini Camp is a part of the instructional program designed to allow players of all skill levels to gain valuable knowledge and experience. Instruction will feature individual and small group work to develop skills for athletes of all ages. Athletes will be grouped according to age and ability level throughout the course of the Mini Camp.

General instruction will be given in all fundamental areas including hitting, bunting, base running, and defense. Special emphasis will be given to individual position instruction, which will include pitching and catching instruction.

Due to the increased popularity of the Holiday Camp in the last two years and keeping the tradition of providing a quality camp for attendees, Acheson is limiting the 2010 Holiday Camp to the first 200 registrants.

He has also made a change to the camp format. The college prep seminar was so well received during camp that it has been expanded and is now being offered it as a separate clinic on Dec. 28.

Participants should bring a glove, cleats, tennis shoes, a bat (optional), water bottle, lunch and enthusiasm. Family and team discounts are available, and each camper will receive a T-shirt.

For more information or questions, contact Coach Acheson at 267-1055, 372-6552, or TAcheson@tntech.edu.
