Tech softball hosts Tennessee Wesleyan; travels to Southeast Missouri

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After nearly sweeping in-state rival Tennessee State to open Ohio Valley Conference play, the Tennessee Tech softball team will look to increase its fortunes as it hosts Tennessee Wesleyan Tuesday, before heading to Southeast Missouri Saturday.

Tech begins the week with a doubleheader against Tennessee Wesleyan Tuesday, with the first pitch scheduled at 3 p.m. The Golden Eagles are 12-1 all-time against Bulldogs including a pair of shutouts back when they last met in 2009 (2-0, 7-0). TWC owns a 6-8 record and is 3-3 in its last six games.
 
The Golden Eagles resume OVC play Saturday, as they take on Southeast Missouri in a three-game series. Saturday will feature a doubleheader, with the first game slated for 1 p.m. The series third game is set for 1 p.m. Sunday.
 
The Redhawks are 5-12 on the season and 2-1 in OVC play. Recently, SEMO took two-of-three games from SIU Edwardsville, both of which came in extra innings. Tech leads the all-time series against the Redhawks 37-35, which includes a 2-1 record last season.
