COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech student-athletes kept their impressive trend of success in the classroom rolling in the right direction in the Fall 2018 semester, boasting 220 members of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
"Our student-athletes have made a habit of achieving at such a high level of success in the classroom semester after semester, and this past fall was no different," said TTU Director of Athletics Mark Wilson. "It always impresses me just how much time and energy our student-athletes put into their education each semester and the Honor Roll recognizes these young women and men. They deserve a congratulations for a job well done."
Also, for the 15th time in the last 18 semesters, the number of Tennessee Tech's students in athletics who achieved recognition by earning a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll surpassed 200. The fall semester's 220 names ranks in the top-five in the history of the honor roll.
Recognizing those students with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, the Gold Club featured 48 members for the Fall 2018 semester.
"These impressive numbers are a tribute to our student-athletes, our coaches and our staff for making academics such a high priority," Wilson said. "Not only are these results something to be proud of, it's especially gratifying that it happens on such a consistent basis. It is remarkable, but it has become a level of performance that we have come to expect. Our student-athletes also have come to expect such an impressive result from themselves and their peers.
"That level of success has become an enduring legacy that each incoming class can strive to attain, and our Athletics Department will continue to work to achieve."
The 48 who scored perfect grades to be listed in the Gold Club for the semester are highlighted below in bold italics under their respective programs.
"Everyone throughout the campus community, especially those of us within the Athletics Department, should be extremely proud of the student-athletes at Tennessee Tech as they continue to set high standards in the classroom," Wilson said. "They are students in the truest sense of the word."
