COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Cari Zubke was hired as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Tennessee Tech on August 1, 2018.

Zubke has spent the previous six years as an assistant athletic trainer at NCAA Division III Southwestern University in Georgetown, Tex. Zubke administered primary athletic training coverage for 13 sports at Southwestern, including men's and women's basketball, golf, lacrosse, tennis, and soccer, among others. She was responsible for coordinating staff schedules, managing student-athlete concussion education and the Athletic Trainer System database, and played a key role in organizing an ACL injury prevention program for women's soccer.

"I am very excited to be joining the Tennessee Tech sports medicine staff," Zubke said. "This is an awesome opportunity to be working with some very talented student-athletes and I can't wait to see what the future holds."

Tech Head Athletic Trainer Joe Erdeljac added, "Cari is an excellent addition to the sports medicine staff and brings a wealth of experience in collegiate athletics along with her. We are fortunate to have her on board and welcome her to our family."

Zubke came to Southwestern after a two-year stint as a graduate assistant at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Tex. Working primarily with the HSU men's basketball, men's soccer and men's and women's track and field/cross country programs, Zubke crafted injury prevention and rehabilitation regiments, provided clinical instruction to athletic training students, and assisted with student-athlete drug testing while earning her master's degree in sport and recreation management.

Zubke completed her bachelor's degree in athletic training from Wichita State University in 2010 and logged hours as a student athletic trainer during all four of her undergraduate years. She assisted with caring for the Shockers' baseball, men's and women's basketball, track and field/cross country, softball, and volleyball student-athletes, and served on the board for the university's Athletic Training Student Association.

During her senior year at Wichita State, Zubke also completed a nine-month internship at local Division II Newman University, where she helped support coverage of the men's and women's soccer, basketball, cross country, wrestling, baseball and softball programs.

Zubke is currently affiliated with several professional athletic training organizations, including the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association, and the Texas Athletic Trainers' Association.
