COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech soccer team closed outs its two-match exhibition slate with a 2-1 loss to ETSU Sunday afternoon at Tech Soccer Field.

The exhibition affair featured three goals within the first 32 minutes, as the Bucs unwrapped the scoring with a sixth-minute net-finder, before the Golden Eagles responded a mere five minutes later behind a set-piece score in the 11th minute. Knotted at 1-1 with over two-thirds of the first stanza in the rearview mirror, ETSU picked up a set-piece score of its own to jump ahead 2-1 in the 31st minute and seal the deal on the afternoon's goal count.

Despite the loss, Tech did find a way to outshoot the Bucs behind a 14-10 advantage, highlighted by a 6-3 discrepancy after intermission. The Golden Eagles nearly doubled up the shot on-goal margin thanks to a 7-4 edge, forcing six Buccaneer saves over the course of 90 minutes. TTU stopped a pair of attempts in between the pipes.

20 different Golden Eagles found their way onto the pitch in the final tune up before the start of the 2022 campaign officially gets underway.

TTU will unwrap the year with a Thursday, Aug. 18 affair against IUPUI in Cookeville. First kick at Tech Soccer Field is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. Admission is free of charge.
