MURRAY, Ky. – A pair of early-stanza goals by Murray State proved to be the difference Friday afternoon as the Tennessee Tech soccer team was upended 2-0 in the club's only match of the week.

Rebecca Kubin scored only two and a half minutes into the match, while Abby Jones followed suit with a goal just over seven minutes into the second half to account for the two Racer scores. Miyah Watford, who entered the tilt as the OVC's leader with 16 points, padded her lead with assists on both Murray goals.

The Golden Eagles (5-6-0, 1-3-0 OVC) did manage to register 13 shots, seven of which were on-goal, the second-highest output in a match all season. Junior Nora Vicsek collected a team-best four shots in only 44 minutes of action.

Freshman Marta Moreno and senior Molly Kafader each notched two shots in the tilt. Moreno also joined Vicsek, Chloe Smith, Cassidy Bereda, Kendall Powell, Rachel Blow and Courtney Manning as the seven different Golden Eagles to put a shot on-goal in the contest.

Senior Kari Naerdemann recorded a season-high eight saves in an attempt to stall a relentless Racer attack that put 10 shots on-goal. Murray State (7-2-1, 3-1-0) took 22 shots in the match, five by freshman Marley Hall to lead all players.

Racer goalkeeper Alex Steigerwald was kept busy, but secured a clean sheet behind seven saves.
