Local star Zoey Nicholas signs with the Golden Eagles

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech Women's Basketball is proud to announce the signing of Zoey Nicholas, a standout guard from Pickett County High School in Byrdstown, Tenn. Nicholas becomes the latest addition to the Golden Eagle family, bringing with her a winning pedigree, elite competitiveness, and a proven ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.

Nicholas will star under first-year head coach Brittany Cooper at Pickett County, a program rich in tradition and success. She also played under longtime head coach Brent Smith, who guided the Lady Bobcats to a state championship and established one of the most respected programs in Tennessee high school basketball.

Standing 5-foot-9, Nicholas has made her mark as one of the state's premier guards. She was named Freshman MVP, Conference MVP, District MVP, Region MVP, and earned All-State honors while helping Pickett County capture conference, district, region, and state titles. As a junior, she averaged 24.1 points, 4.9 assists, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game, leading her team on another deep postseason run.

During the summer, Nicholas competed for Kentucky Premier EYBL, one of the nation's top travel basketball programs, where she continued to sharpen her skills against elite competition on the Nike circuit.

"Zoey embodies everything we look for in a Golden Eagle," said Tennessee Tech Head Coach Kim Rosamond. "She's a tough, skilled guard who knows how to win. Coming from a tradition-rich program and competing on the EYBL circuit, she's already experienced the work ethic and competitiveness it takes to be successful. We are excited to welcome her to our family."

When asked why she chose Tennessee Tech, Nicholas shared,

"I chose Tennessee Tech because it feels like home and the people feel like family."

Nicholas plans to major in Exercise Science and pursue a career in Physical Therapy while continuing her basketball journey as a Golden Eagle.
