Lacy is a sophomore on the Golden Eagle squad and returns for her second season of competition in the throwing events during the indoor and outdoor track seasons...a talented athlete who made her mark in track in high school...also competed in basketball and volleyball...also a strong performer in the classroom...earned a spot twice on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in recognition of her solid academic efforts.
(In 2009-10): Lacy set two records in her first year with Tech track and field...recorded a distance of 36 feet, 11 inches in the outdoor shot put, which is fifth longest in school history...her discus mark of 136 feet, 10 inches ranks third all-time at Tech...her season-high in javelin came at the OVC Championships, as she posted a distance of 87 feet, 4 inches...also competed in the shot put and the weight throw during the indoor track season...participated in the shot put in two meets and achieved her best distance of 35 feet 2 1/2 inches at the OVC indoor meet...competed in the weight throw in all three meets and reached a best distance of 39 feet, 7 1/4 inches, also at the OVC meet.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lacy comes to Tech from White
County High School in nearby Sparta...the first track athlete from
that high school to ever compete on the collegiate level of
competiton...started her track career during her junior year and
advanced to sectionals in the same year...as a senior, advanced to
the state meet and took fifth-place honors...was a member of the
Tennessean's All-Midstate second team...lettered both
years for coach Dave Bruce...also lettered three years in
basketball and three years in volleyball for the Warriors...a solid
worker in the classroom in high school...kept a solid "A" average
and was chosen to be a Girls' State alternate as well as a member
of BETA.
PERSONAL: Lacy is the daughter of Fidel Yslas and
Alice Johnson...full name is Lacy Lorraine Yslas...born on June 4,
1991...studying curriculum in Secondary Education/Spanish.
