Tech cross country heads north for Live in Lou Classic Saturday morning

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech cross country teams return to action Saturday morning, making the trek north for the 20th annual Live in Lou Cross Country Classic hosted by Louisville at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.

The Tech men will compete in the gold men's 8K, kicking off the action at 8:30 a.m. CT. The Golden Eagle women will take part in the gold women's 5K to follow at 9:15 a.m.

Both squads for the purple and gold enter competition after two weeks of practice and training after each finished seventh at the Commodore Classic back on Friday, Sept. 17.

Newcomer Dominic Smith earned his second top finish among the Tech competitors, placing 22nd overall with a personal best time of 25:29.4. Turning in his first career sub-26 minute performance was freshman Miceal McCaul, clocking in at 25:44.8.

On the women's side, rookie Ruby Wyles again led the purple and gold, delivering a time of 18:15.5 to finish 35th overall. Returning freshman Amanda Laboy produced her personal best time, playing 37th just one second back of her teammate at 18:16.5.

The Fields
The Live in Lou Classic Gold Men's Field consists of host Louisville, as well as App State, Bellarmine, Chattanooga, Cornerstone, DePaul, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Illinois, ETSU, Grand Valley State, High Point, Lipscomb, Loyola Chicago, Marquette, Memphis, Miami (Ohio), Middle Tennessee, Mississippi College, Montreat, New Orleans, Oakland, Ohio, Olivet Nazarene, Queens (N.C.), Roberts Wesleyan, South Alabama, St. Bonaventure, St. Francis (Ill.), Taylor, Tennessee Tech, UNC Asheville, UNCG, UT Martin, UTEP, West Texas A&M, and Wisconsin.
