COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech senior Adam McLeod finished his running career on the Golden Eagle cross country team in the fall semester. He wrapped up his collegiate career in May when he received his degree in chemical engineering with a lofty 3.94 GPA.
And last week, McLeod added a distintive honor to his resume, being named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District® Track & Field/Cross Country Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
McLeod was the only student-athlete selected from the Ohio Valley Conference in District 3, and one of just five OVC selections overall. He is joined by Mick Viken of Eastern Illinois in District 4, along with Joel Krause, Kevin Farley and Alex Zisser of Southeast Missouri in District 6.
McLeod ranked among team leaders in every meet during the 2012 cross country season, and posted his best effort at the OVC Championships with a second-place finish on the squad. He had his best races of the year on the biggest stages, running a career-best 8K time at the OVC Championships and his 10K personal best at the NCAA Regional.
A senior from Kingsport, Tenn., he was listed on the Athletics Director's Honor Roll every semester at Tech and as on the OVC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll every year.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.
