2024 (Senior – Rockford University): Herzog made just two appearances out of the bullpen due to injury, but played in all 41 of the team’s games while making 40 starts at designated hitter… on the mound, finished 1.2 innings with two punch-outs over 1.2 innings… did not allow a run while surrendering three walks and one hit… with the bat, hit .282 with a .374 on-base percentage, .487 slugging percentage, and an .861 OPS… totaled 44 hits, 13 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 32 runs, 23 RBI, and 19 walks… made his season debut on the mound with two strikeouts and two walks in 0.2 innings at Dominican University (Apr. 30)… completed 1.0 frame with one hit allowed versus Marian University (May 8)… tallied a season-high three hits three times, starting with a 3-for-3 day while finishing a triple shy of the cycle against Edgewood College (Mar. 28)… scored a season-high three runs while finishing 3-for-6 with two RBI at Dominican University (Apr. 30)… piled up three more hits with two runs and just a long ball shy of the cycle in his next contest against Benedictine (May 3)… turned in multiple hits 14 times… drove in multiple runs in six contests.

2023 (Junior – Rockford University): Herzog made 11 appearances with 10 starts on the mound while playing in 35 and starting 34 of the team’s 37 games as the designated hitter… on the hill, led Rockford with a 4-4 record, 55.0 innings, and 70 strikeouts… tallied a 4.58 ERA and one save while holding batters to a .288 average… allowed 28 earned runs, 61 hits, and 45 walks… with the bat, paced the team with 14 walks while ranking second with 27 RBI… finished the year slashing .303/.370/.454 with an 824 OPS, 36 hits, nine doubles, three home runs, and 17 runs scored… delivered season-highs of 14 strikeouts and 8.0 innings on the mound with just three runs allowed and three hits at Dominican University (Apr. 22)… fanned 11 over 7.0 innings with a single, unearned run allowed against Wisconsin Lutheran (Apr. 14)… earned his first win of the year following 7.0 innings with one earned run allowed and six punch-outs against Edgewood College (Apr. 2)… earned his first save after striking out the side in a perfect ninth at Concordia Chicago (May 3)… racked up a season-high three hits five times, starting with the season-opener versus Alvernia University (Mar. 4)… drummed up season-bests of two doubles, and four RBI as part of a 2-for-4 day at Parkside (Mar. 20)… also turned in two doubles and three hits at Beloit College (Apr. 4)… drove in three on three hits and his first long ball of the year in his next contest against Marian University (Apr. 8)… completed at least 4.0 innings in eight contests… struck out at least five batters seven times and nine or more in three tilts… produced multiple hits 11 times… drove in multiple runs in seven tilts.

2022 (Sophomore – Rockford University): Herzog made 11 appearances with 10 starts on the hill while starting all 37 of the team’s games at designated hitter… on the mound, topped the team with a 3-4 record, 61.1 innings of work, 87 strikeouts, and a .229 opponent batting average allowed… ranked second on the team with a 3.52 ERA… allowed 24 earned runs, 52 hits, and 33 walks… in the batter’s box, paced Rockford with 24 walks… slashed .270/.380/.355 with a .735 OPS… tallied 38 hits, five doubles, two triples, a home run, 30 runs and 21 RBI… piled up a season-high 14 strikeouts without issuing a free pass against Aurora University (May 8), taking the tough-luck loss after surrendering just two earned runs on five hits over 7.0 innings of work… tossed a complete-game of 9.0 innings with 11 punch-outs, one walk, two earned runs, and just three hits at Edgewood College (Apr. 3)… earned his first win of the season following 6.0 shutout frames of two-hit ball with five strikeouts versus Pitt-Bradford (Mar. 7)… fanned 10 batters over 7.2 innings versus Marian University (Apr. 9) and again over 5.0 innings of work at Lakeland University (Apr. 23)… with the bat, drove in a season-high four runs with two hits versus Alvernia University (Mar. 7)… finished a double shy of the cycle while smashing his lone long ball of the year for a 3-for-4 day with three RBI and two runs scored versus Thiel College (Mar. 11)… also compiled three hits at Edgewood College (Apr. 3)… racked up three RBI in back-to-back games against Dominican University (Apr. 24), finishing 3-for-4 with three runs and a home run shy of the cycle in game one and 2-for-4 with two runs in the second contest… scored a season-high four runs against Maranatha Baptist (Apr. 12)… covered at least 5.0 innings in nine appearances on the mound… fanned five or more batters nine times and nine or more six times… tallied seven multi-hit affairs with the bat… drove in multiple runs in four contests.

2021 (Freshman – Rockford University): Herzog made nine appearances with six starts on the mound while starting all 40 of Rockford’s games as the team’s designated hitter… on the hill, led the team with a 3.65 ERA to go with a 2-1 record and 44 strikeouts over 37.0 innings of work… allowed 15 earned runs, 31 hits, and 23 walks… held opponents to a team-best .218 batting average… with the bat, led the team with 24 walks to just 20 strikeouts and a .413 on-base percentage… tied for the team lead with 43 hits, and 10 doubles while ranking second with a .305 batting average… also tallied one triple, one home run, 26 runs, 21 RBI, .824 OPS, and a 6-for-8 showing on stolen base attempts… made his collegiate debut at DH, finishing with two walks and a run scored at Elmhurst (Mar. 12)… secured his first career hit as part of a 2-for-3 day with a double, RBI, and two runs against Eureka (Mar. 12)… made his collegiate debut on the mound by completing 0.1 innings at Concordia Wisconsin (Mar. 28)… drove in a season-high three runs as part of a 3-for-5 day with two doubles at Edgewood College (Apr. 3)… in his first career start on the hill, secured his first win following 6.0 innings of shutout ball while piling up a seven-inning program record 15 strikeouts against Maranatha Baptist (Apr. 6)… allowed just one hit and no walks in the contest… turned in complete game of 7.0 innings with just one run allowed and eight punch-outs at Dominican University (May 2), earning his second win of the year… turned in a season-high four hits at Concordia Chicago (May 8)…  finished 6.1 innings with just one hit and one unearned run allowed at Benedictine [IL] (May 15)… completed at least 3.0 innings on the mound in seven appearances… struck out at least four batters six times… recorded multiple hits in 11 games… tallied multiple RBI five times.

High School: Herzog was a three-sport athlete at Ottawa Township High School in Ottawa, Ill., playing football, baseball, and basketball.

Personal: Son of Jamie and Michael Herzog… born in Sterling, Ill. on October 25, 2000… full name is Jared Herzog… father, Michael, was a four-year letterwinner in football at Quincy University… uncle, Nate Reeser, played two seasons of baseball at West Virginia University.

Academic: Pursuing a master’s degree in professional studies with a concentration in public safety… earned his bachelor’s degree from Rockford University in May 2024... selected to the RU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll four times… named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll once.
