2022 (Junior): Dyer played in 42 of the team’s 57 games, making 38 starts, including 14 at first base, seven in right field, and 17 as the designated hitter… slashed .290/.383/.607… racked up 42 hits, 29 runs, 10 doubles, 12 home runs, and 31 RBI… ranked second on the team with seven hit-by-pitches… finished 1-for-1 on stolen base attempts… made just one error for a .991 fielding percentage… went 2-for-4 in the season opener against Oral Roberts (Feb. 18)… tallied season-highs of three hits, three runs, and two home runs against North Alabama (Mar. 22)… turned in a 3-for-4 day with two runs and a double at UT Martin (Apr. 24)… also delivered three hits while driving in a season-high four runs with a double and long ball against Austin Peay (May 14)… piled up four RBI with a pair of walks against Radford (Feb. 19)… smashed a pinch-hit, game-winning, solo blast in the 10^th inning of a 10-9 victory at ETSU (Mar. 19)… smacked two doubles with a pair of runs scored in Tech’s first game of the OVC Tournament against Murray State (May 25)… moved into a tie for 15^th on Tech’s all-time career home run list, boasting 24 blasts in his career… concluded the year with 11 multi-hit games… drove in multiple runs eight times.

2021 (Sophomore*): Dyer competed in 30 of Tech’s 47 games, making 17 starts, including 14 in right field, two as the designated hitter, and one at first base… turned in a .176 batting average with a .250 on-base percentage and .250 slugging percentage… finished the year with 12 hits, four runs, two doubles, a home run, 10 RBI, five walks, and a stolen base… delivered three outfield assists to lead the team in that category… secured a season-high two hits at Kent State (Feb. 28), at No. 1 Vanderbilt (Mar. 30), and in the first game of a doubleheader with Murray State (Apr. 2)… drove in a season-high three runs with a three-run bomb against Belmont (Mar. 23)… produced a pair of RBI at North Alabama (Mar. 16).

2020 (Sophomore): Dyer played in all 15 of Tech’s games, making 12 starts as the designated hitter and one at third base before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic… finished the year with a .152 batting average, .264 on-base percentage and .217 slugging percentage… totaled one double, one triple, three RBI and three runs scored… drew five walks and was hit by two pitches… posted season-highs of two hits and two RBI against Lipscomb (Mar. 11)… went 1-for-2 with an RBI double in the second game of a doubleheader against Bradley (Feb. 29).

2019 (Freshman): Dyer appeared in 53 of the team’s 54 games, making 48 starts between designated hitter, first base, and third base… recorded a batting average of .330, on base percentage of .420 and slugging percentage of .581… totaled 63 hits, 41 runs, 13 doubles, a triple, 11 home runs and 54 RBI… became just the second player in program history to earn multiple Freshman All-American honors (Kevin Strohschein) and the seventh total player in school history to earn the honor… led all OVC freshmen in doubles, home runs, RBI and slugging percentage and ranked in the top-three in on base percentage, batting average and hits… made his collegiate debut as the starting designated hitter in the season-opener against Western Illinois (Feb. 15)… gathered his first career hit and RBI in the second game of a doubleheader against Western Illinois (Feb. 16)… compiled a season-high four hits in three separate games, including contests against Eastern Illinois (Mar. 23), Alabama A&M (Apr. 16) and Morehead State (May 11)… clubbed his first career home run in a contest against SIUE (Mar. 8), driving in four runs… smashed a pair of dingers with a season-high seven RBI and four runs scored against Alabama A&M (Apr. 16)… tallied multiple doubles in two games… finished 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI at eventual national champion Vanderbilt (Apr. 30)… drew a season-high three walks at Eastern Kentucky (May 3)… drove in three or more runs in seven games and multiple runs 13 times… compiled multiple hits in 16 contests, including three or more seven times… scored multiple runs in 11 games.

High School: Dyer earned three letters as a third baseman, first baseman, and pitcher for head coach Mark Purvis at Mt. Juliet High School… led MJHS to District 9AAA titles in 2016 and 2018… turned in a monster senior campaign, batting .434 with a .500 on-base percentage, 32 RBI and five dingers… hit .386 with a .513 on-base percentage with 21 RBI as a junior… also hit .299 with a .438 on-base percentage and 14 RBI in his sophomore season… earned 2018 Perfect Game Pre-Season All-Southeast Region honors and Perfect Game WWBA All-Tournament honors in both 2016 and 2017… in his senior season, was named District MVP and to the All-State Second Team… lettered for the MJHS bowling team as a senior for head coach George Ogilvie… earned All-District First Team honors while turning in a 192 average.

Personal: Son of Scott and Kathy Dyer… born in Nashville, Tenn. on October 31, 1999… full name is John Pierson Dyer… brother, Austyn, played baseball and Martin Methodist and Vol State from 2012-16… sister, Karlymarie, played basketball at Oglethorpe University from 2016-20… mother, Kathy, played basketball at Towson (State) University from 1986-90… father, Scott, played football at the University of Delaware from 1986-87.

Academic: Pursuing a master’s degree in business administration… earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Tech in May 2022… named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll nine times and the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll three times.
