2021 (Freshman – Pearl River CC*): Newsom played in 37 of his team’s 45 games while making four starts and nine total appearances on the mound… slashed .321/.400/.631 while totaling 27 hits, 21 runs, five doubles, seven home runs, 24 RBI, 10 walks, and five stolen bases… posted a 4.41 ERA and 1-0 record… tossed 16.1 innings with 13 strikeouts and 10 walks… allowed eight earned runs and 14 hits… tallied season-highs of four hits, two home runs, three RBI, and three runs scored in five at-bats in the first game of a doubleheader at East Mississippi CC (Mar. 20)… also drove in three runs in the second tilt of a double dip against East Central CC (Feb. 3), in the second game of the DH at East Mississippi CC (Mar. 20), and one more time in the second contest against Mississippi Delta CC (Apr. 18)… recorded multiple hits in five games and drove in multiple runs six times.

2020 (Freshman – Pearl River CC): Newsom competed in 12 of Pearl River’s 16 games and made one appearance out of the bullpen before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic… hit .286 with a .382 on-base percentage and .500 slugging percentage… totaled eight hits, six runs, three doubles, a home run, nine RBI, and four walks… on the hill, tossed 0.2 innings with one strikeout, one walks, and two hits allowed for a perfect 0.00 ERA… made his collegiate debut in the first game of a doubleheader against Chipola College (Feb. 17), gathering his first hit and run scored with a double… earned his first RBI in the first contest of a double dip against Coastal Alabama – South (Feb. 19)… smashed his first career home run as part of a season-high two hits in the first tilt of a doubleheader with Baton Rouge CC (Feb. 23).

High School: Newsom earned four letters as an outfielder, first baseman, and pitcher at Germantown High School in Madison, Miss. for head coach Brian Hardy… hit .355 in his high school career, totaling 75 RBI, 29 doubles, five triples, and seven home runs across 97 games… slugged .611 with a .471 on-base percentage… racked up a 9-6 record with two saves and a 3.47 ERA in 31 appearances and 76.2 innings… struck out 100 batters to just 45 walks, holding batters to a .229 batting average… hit .417 as a senior with 13 extra-base hits, 14 RBI, seven stolen bases, a .520 on-base percentage and 1.330 OPS… finished 3-2 on the mound with a 3.50 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 26 innings… was a Crossroads Diamond Club All-Star selection… ranked as the No. 20 overall prospect and No. 9 outfielder in the state of Mississippi by Perfect Game… nationally ranked No. 128 among outfielders and in the top-500 overall by Perfect Game… named to the 2018 Perfect Game Preseason Underclassmen All-American Third Team… earned 2017 Perfect Game Preseason Underclassmen All-American High Honorable Mention… collected 2019 Perfect Game Preseason All-Southeast Region Honorable Mention honors.
