LOVELAND, Ohio – It was a successful first day of the 2025 season for the Tennessee Tech beach volleyball team, as the Golden Eagles opened action at the Cincy Clash in Loveland, Ohio with a 1-1 mark in two matches.
Competing at the Grands Sands, the purple and gold kicked off the morning with an impressive, 4-1 victory over in-state rival Austin Peay (1-1). In the second match of the day, Tech (1-1) fell in a non-league match-up with Ohio Valley Conference foe Morehead State, 4-1.
Details from the Golden Eagles' victory over the Govs to open the season were not available at the time of this release, but will be provided prior to the conclusion of this weekend's action.
During the Cookeville crew's second affair of the day, it was the No. 5 pairing of Emma Pabon and McKenna Young getting their squad on the board, battling their way to a three-set win. The pair of seniors edged Morehead's Amelia Nott and Lily-Kate Carver in the opener behind scores of 22-20, 18-21, and 15-2.
Day two of the Cincy Clash will open for the Golden Eagles with an 11:00 a.m. CT match against Liberty. Tech will then conclude opening weekend action with a 3:00 p.m. tilt against tournament host Eastern Kentucky.
