Title: Graduate Assistant Coach

Nick Coleman joined the Tennessee Tech athletic performance staff as a graduate assistant in the summer of 2022. Coleman currently oversees the training for women’s soccer and softball, while assisting with other sports teams. 

Originally from Southeast Minnesota, Coleman came to Tech from the town of Rochester. He competed in multiple sports and hobbies while living in Minnesota, ranging from playing soccer from the age of five, to skiing, hunting, cross-country ski racing, Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, and college rugby. Coleman is a two-time Olympic weightlifting national competitor.

Coleman has coached at the NAIA, DII, DI FCS, and DI Power Five levels. He began his coaching career interning at Winona State, working with the department for three and a half years. While at Winona State, Coleman worked with almost every sport, including football, men’s basketball, women’s soccer, gymnastics, and baseball.

He did a supplementary internship at the NAIA college St. Mary’s, working primarily with track and field, women’s basketball, and both men’s and women’s hockey. After graduating from Winona State with a degree in exercise science, Coleman took a football strength and conditioning internship at Weber State in Ogden, Utah for three months.

Following his time at Weber State, he took a year-long, Olympic sports internship at Wake Forest. While at Wake Forest University, Coleman assisted with every sport while also working toward his SCCC certification.

He currently is CSCS and CPR/First Aid certified, and working toward his SCCC certification. Coleman is engaged to Kristen Salinas.
