COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - After battling through three full rounds and five playoff holes, Ryan Allison and Rob Lollar finally claimed victory in the Championship Flight of the 2016 Pepsi Bobby Nichols Golden Eagle Scramble presented by Budweiser Sunday, draining an 18-foot putt off the fringe to seal the deal as the sun set on White Plains Golf Course.

The pair edged out former Golden Eagle golfer Tyler Cassetty and playing partner Brandon Ward following a tie at 40-under at the conclusion of the third round of the tournament. Allison and Lollar carded a 14-under to force a tie for first and the playoff.

Third place went to Josh Curtis and Josh Shoulders at 36-under while the combo of Paul Ballard and Tim Richardson took fourth place.

ALGOOD — The sun was starting to set fast at White Plains Golf Course.

With a close battle in the championship flight, it was only fitting that the 2016 Bobby Nichols Golden Eagle Scramble came down to a playoff hole.

But it wasn't one or two or even three.

The battle between Ryan Allison and Rob Lollar against Tyler Cassetty and Brandon Ward went five holes, each one hitting par on the playoff attempts until Allison sank a putt on No. 14 for birdie to clinch the 2016 crown — Allison's first and Lollar's second. Lollar also won the event in 2003, playing with Danny Sutton.

"I just wanted to win it for this guy right here," Lollar joked as he hugged Allison.

Allison responded, "It feels awesome. The way we played, not once did I honestly think we were going to win. We made some putts, and Rob hit some big shots down the stretch. We were just able to pull it off in the playoff. Luckily, in the fifth hole, we finally made a putt."

Lollar interjected, "We finally made a birdie."

Entering Sunday's final round, Cassetty and Ward, winners in the 2006 and 2008 Golden Eagle Scrambles, led with a 28-under, while Allison and Lollar and the team of Josh Curtis and Josh Shoulders — 2007 GES winners — were both tied at 26-under.

To make things even more interesting, there was a three-way tie at 25-under between current Tech women's golfers Allyson Dunn, who finished second at the Ohio Valley Conference championship, and Hollee Sadler, as well as Paul Ballard and Tim Richardson and Blake Garrison and Barrett Steakley…
