OVC finalizes Game of the Week, web streaming plans for football

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- In July the Ohio Valley Conference announced its partnership with Wazoo Sports to produce and broadcast the OVC Football “Game of the Week” this season. With the football season just a week away and the first Game of the Week broadcast three weeks away, the league has finalized the affiliates and streaming information for the broadcasts.

Tennessee Tech will appear in two of the OVC Game of the Week telecasts, and those games will be available in Tennessee on WUXP TV in Nashville.

The games are being produced by and will air on Wazoo Sports, a regional sports network based in London, Ky. Wazoo Sports launched online in December 2007 and expanded to a 24/7 sports television network on September 25, 2009.  Wazoo Sports currently serves over 650,000 households in Kentucky.

In addition the games will also air on these four television affiliates: WEIU (Charleston, Ill.), WJXS (Oxford, Ala.), WQWQ (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) and WUXP (Nashville, Tenn.). Not every station will air every game of the package. Please check out Game of the Week information page at OVCSports.com (http://www.ovcsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=6200&ATCLID=204981472) for full details on each of those stations.

The addition of those affiliates, which covers the majority of the OVC footprint, brings the total number of households that can access the OVC Game of the Week broadcast to over 1.85 million.

In addition fans will be able to access the games through two streaming sources, including OVCSports.TV. OVCSports.TV is the OVC’s premium streaming service that launched in July 2006 and has streamed thousands of games in its first four years of existence. Fans will be able to purchase the pay-per-view game for $5.95 or it will be included in any OVCSports.TV annual ($99.95), monthly ($29.95) or football season ($59.95) subscription package.

Select OVC Game of the Week broadcasts will also air on ESPN3.com (formerly ESPN360), ESPN’s broadband network for live sports programming. Currently the first two games of the package (Sept. 18 and Sept. 25) have been selected for broadcast on ESPN3.com. Check back at OVCSports.com for updates throughout the season to see if other games will air on ESPN3.com. Access to ESPN3.com varies by internet service provider.
