COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech football coach Watson Brown and his staff will host several youth camps this summer, beginning with the Soaring Eagles Kids Camp, May 31 through June 2.

The 7-on-7 Passing Camp is set for Friday, July 22, with the High School Mini Camp on Saturday, July 23.

The Soaring Eagle Kids Camp is open to youth between Kindergarten and ninth grade, and runs each day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch each day is included and the cost of the camp is $100 per person.

The Soaring Eagle Kids Camp is designed to help young, aspiring football players understand the game of football and learn the fundamentals. For three days, campers will be coached proper technique, taken through drills, and taught the fundamentals of football.

At the end of each day, the campers will have the opportunity to compete in games against one another. Each child will be provided a Watson Brown Football Camp t-shirt.

The 7-on-7 Passing Camp will be held on Friday, July 22, with registration from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., and games beginning at 10 a.m.

The 7-on-7 camp is designed to help teams get a jump on the upcoming season. The camp will feature a 7-on-7 league with each team playing six games.  Teams participating should bring two different colored jerseys and their own footballs. All players are expected to have their own helmet, mouthpiece and cleats.

The following day, Saturday, July 23, Brown and his staff host the 2011 High School Mini Camp, a one-day session than will benefit all high school players.  Registration for the camp is from 8-9 a.m., and the camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch and a camp t-shirt are included, with a cost of $30 per camper.

The high school mini camp is open to young men in grades nine through 12, and will be held on Overall Field in Tucker Stadium, home of the Golden Eagles. The morning session will consist of agility and speed instruction, while the afternoon session will focus on position-specific football drills. There will also be a 7-on-7 passing competition, as well as competition designed specifically for the linemen.

The final camp is the annual Watson Brown Team Camp, scheduled for July 31 through August 3. The field for this year’s team camp, which will features teams from across the state of Tennessee as well as Georgia, Kentucky and Alabama, is full.
