Collegiate Baseball names Strohschein National Player of the Week

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Following a monster week at the plate, Tennessee Tech outfielder Kevin Strohschein was named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Monday afternoon, his second such honor of his career.

Strohschein finished 8-for-17 for a .471 batting average in four games last week, helping the Golden Eagles extend their winning streak to nine straight contests. He scored seven runs and drove in 10 while smashing a double and four home runs in victories over Alabama A&M and Austin Peay. The junior slugged 1.235 and reached base at a .500 clip for the week. 

He opened the week by going 4-for-6 with a double, two home runs and three runs scored in a 17-0 win at Alabama A&M. In the second game of the Austin Peay series, the junior hit another home run and drove in three runs before capping the week with a 3-for-5 performance and featured a home run.

Strohschein currently ranks first in the OVC in hits (1.87/game), second in batting average (.422), RBI (1.35/game), total bases (3.26/game) and slugging percentage (.735), third in home runs (0.30/game), fifth in doubles (0.39/game), ninth in runs scored (1.0/game).
