Tennessee Tech Baseball Weekend Preview (3/28)
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team will look to extend its nine-game winning streak into double digits this weekend, making a trip north to Charleston, Ill. for a three-game, Ohio Valley Conference series against Eastern Illinois. With rain and inclement weather expected in the area, the weekend schedule has been altered and will officially begin with a doubleheader on Friday, Mar. 30.
First pitch of game one is set for 11 a.m. CT with game two beginning at approximately 2:30 p.m. or roughly 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first contest. The series finale is currently scheduled for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday, but with rain also expected the area that day, game three could be moved to Sunday, Apr. 1. Fans are encouraged to check social media and the TTUSports.com website for more updates concerning this weekend's schedule.
The Golden Eagle offense has continued its record-setting pace in 2018, leading the nation in batting average (.357), home runs (51), home runs per game (2.22), on base percentage (.447), slugging percentage (.631), runs (255) and scoring (11.1). Tech also ranks second nationally in doubles per game (2.91) and hits (304), as well as fourth in doubles (67).
