Track & Field

Jenna is a verstile and talented athlete who is now in her junior year at Tech...has strong potential to leave her mark on the Golden Eagle program...actively competed in three sports in high school...also a solid performer in the classroom...named four times to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in recognition of her strong academic efforts.

AT TECH - (In 2009-10): Jenna competed in two events during the outdoor season...at the TTU Invitational, she finished with a career-best time of 2:35.64 in the 800m run and set a mark of 15 feet, 11.25 inches in the long jump...during the indoor season, participated in 400m and 800m runs and the long jump...achieved a best time of 1:06.55 in the 400 and a career-best time 2:30.36 in the 800...in the long jump, reached a best distance of 15 feet, 7 3/4 inches.

(In 2008-09): Jenna participated in two events during the indoor part of the spring season...competed in the long jump and made a best distance of 16' 8.75" at TSU, which also stands as a team seasonal best...also competed in the triple jump at Sewanee, where she achieved a distance of 33' 5.25"....a participant on the 4x400 relay team at the OVC Indoor meet that reached a time of 4:14.92...competed in 400m dash, long jump and triple jump in the outdoor season...posted a best time of 1:02.24 in the 400m at the OVC Championships...achieved a personal season-best distance of 16' 5" in the long jump at Murray State...in the triple jump, achieved a personal-best distance of 32' 11.75", also at Murray State...was a participant on the 4x400 relay team at the OVC Championships that set the fourth-best mark in school history for that event with a time of 4:03.59...other participants on that relay were Emily Weinzetl, Danielle Catlett and Leayn Carter.

HIGH SCHOOL: Jenna was a three-sport standout athlete at Coffee County High School in Manchester...participated all four years on the track team under coach Stan Jarrell...competed in the long jump, triple jump, 4x8 relay, and 400m dash...was a state track participant in 2005, 06, and 07...In 2005, placed sixth in the 400m run...placed seventh in the pentathalon and eighth in the long jump in 2007...played varsity basketball, where she was a four-year letterman at the right wing under coach Dan Scroggins...also played varsity volleyball under coach Scroggins as a two-year letterman...played the outside hitter and back row specialist postions and helped the Red Raiders to the volleyball district championship...also a successful student in the classroom...graduated in the top ten percent of her graduating class as an Outstanding Senior.

PERSONAL: Jenna is the daughter Darin and Shelba Philpott...birthday is December 12, 1989...full name is Jenna Leigh Philpott...majoring in nursing.
