Rachel made her mark early as she set back-to-back school
records in the pole vault as a freshman and sophomore...she now
heads into her senior season on the Golden Eagle roster with the
ability and work ethic to lead the Tech squad to an outstanding
2009-10 season...competes in the pole vault, dashes and hurdles...a
seven-time selection for the Athletic Director's Honor Roll to
recognize her for strong performance in the classroom...an
all-state performer in the pole vault during her prep
career...consistently shows the skills to impact the Tech program
and the Ohio Valley Conference.
AT TECH - (In 2008-09): Rachel competed in five
events during the spring indoor season...she competed in the 55m
and 60m hurdles, the 55m and 60m dashes and the pole vault...in the
55m hurdles, posted the squad's best time at Sewanee with a
performance of 10.05...in the 60m hurdles, clocked in a time of
10.74 at TSU, another seasonal-best time for the Golden Eagle
team...achieved a career-best time of 8.37 in the 55m dash at
Sewanee...clocked in a 60m dash time of 8.97 at TSU...achieved a
distance in the pole vault at 8-feet, 1/4 inch at Sewanee...also
competed in the pole vault and javelin throw in the outdoor
season...accomplished a best distance in the pole vault at 8-feet,
six-inches at Murray State...achieved the 2009 squad's best
distance in the javelin at Austin Peay with a 112-feet, 10-inches
mark, which also stands as a personal career-best.
(2007-08): Rachel ran in the 60m and 200m
dashes, the 55m hurdles, and competed in the pole vault in the
indoor season...ran a 8.85 in the 60m at ETSU, which still stands
as a career-best mark...also set a career-best mark in the 200m
with a 30.05 finish at Sewanee...raced a team-best 9.95 in the 55m
hurdles at Sewanee...raised the bar in the pole vault with a 8
feet, 11 3/4 performance at Sewanee, besting her previous Tech
school record in the event of 8-feet, 6-inches last season...also
competed in the pole vault and the javelin during the outdoor
season...smashed another school record by reaching 9' in the pole
vault at the OVC Championships...best season performance in the
javelin was set at Austin Peay with a distance of 93 feet, 10.8
inches.
(2006-07): Rachel competed in three events
(pole vault, 55m hurdles , 60m hurdles) during the indoor season
and four (pole vault, 100m, 300m hurdles, 400m hurdles)
outdoors...achieved a distance of 8-feet, 6-inches in the pole
vault in her first collegiate meet at Sewanee indoors, which was a
school record at the time...topped that with a new school mark,
clearing 8-feet, 6 1/2 inches at the APSU Invitational...matched
her own school record at the OVC Championships...had Tech's best
indoor times in the hurdles, and fastest times outdoors in 300m and
400m hurdles.
HIGH SCHOOL: Rachel was an all-state honoree in
the pole vault during her sophomore and junior seasons at Anderson
Central High School with second place finishes both years in the
TSSAA state tournament...spent her first three years at Anderson
County competing for coach Al Rodd...after a transfer to Knoxville
Catholic High School for her senior year she was not eligible to
compete due to the transfer...an all-purpose athlete, she competed
in the pentathlon and excelled in the pole vault...was third in the
state as a freshman...career-best as a prep was 9'6".
PERSONAL: The daughter of Steve and Martha Forbes...full
name is Rachel Clare Forbes...birthdate is May 21, 1988...enrolled
in basic engineering...oldest of three sisters on the squad, being
joined by Rebecca nd Kathryn
