A talented athlete, Ifey is now in her junior season for the
Golden Eagle squad...a four-time selection for the Athletic
Director's Honor Roll...a strong competitor in track in high school
and also played soccer...a stand-out in the classroom.
AT TECH - (In 2008-09): Ifey ran in the 55m, 60m
and 200m dashes during the indoor meets...posted a time of 7.88 in
the 55m event at Sewanee, which is the team's best mark of the
season...best time in the 60m dash was 8.29 at the OVC Indoor
Championships, which is another team indoor seasonal best...ran in
the 200m dash in all three indoor meets and posted a best time of
27.23 at the OVC Indoor Championships...competed in four of the
squad's five outdoor meets, participating in the 100m and 200m
dashes...best time in the 100m was set at the OVC Championships,
where her 12.8 stands as the third-best performance in Tech history
in that event...clocked in a best 200m time at Austin Peay, with a
final of 26.78...helped the 4x100 relay team to a school
record-setting time of 48.90 at the Murray State meet along with
teammates Meagan Lyons, Allison Price and Emily Weinzetl.
(2007-08): In Ifey's freshman year, she
participated in four events and in all eight meets during the
spring track season...during the indoor part of the season, she
competed in the 55m, 60m and the 200m dashes...she set Tech's best
times of the season in each event...time in the 55m was 7.60 in the
OVC Indoor Championships...set a time of 8.30 in the 60m at
ETSU...also finished with a 26.82 time in the 200m at
Sewanee...competed in the 100m and 200m dashes during the outdoor
part of the season...set the team's best marks of the season in
both events...posted a time of 12.84 in the 100m at TSU...her time
of 26.98 in the 200m at Purdue was not only the best Tech time of
the season, but also the fifth-best mark in the event in Tech
history.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ifey competed in her prep career at
Leander High School in Leander, Texas...she participated on the
track team for three seasons...was named co-captain of the team in
her junior year...in senior year, tapped as a captain of the
squad...also played varsity soccer in her freshman year...devoted
to succeeding in her studies...was a honor roll student and
graduated with the top 15 percent of her senior class.
PERSONAL: Ifey is the daughter of Celestine and
Frances Equzo...born on May 16, 1989...full name Ifeyinwa
Equzo...majoring in accounting.
