In 2009 (Freshman): Whitney started all 57
games for the Golden Eagles, leading the team with seven home runs,
14 doubles, and 32 RBIs on 46 hits while being named to the OVC
All-Newcomer Team...also led the team in slugging percentage (.472)
while batting .261 on the year...had a 14-game hitting streak
throughout the course of the season, the second longest of any
player in the OVC...finished the year with 11 multi-RBI games, the
fourth most in the conference...drove in a season-high four RBIs
while going 2-for-4 at the plate against Southeast Missouri
(3/29)...was 3-for-4 with a double, one run scored and an RBI
against Austin Peay (3/22)...had the team’s lone triple on
the season against UT Martin (4/25)...also appeared in six games in
the circle, compiling a 3.07 ERA with five strike outs in 13.2
innings of work.
High School: Whitney lettered all four years at Tuttle
High School in Oklahoma for coach Jerry Bates...also played on the
hardwood, lettering all four years in basketball for coach Jason
Pennington. She was an all-district, all-region and all-state
selection on the diamond her senior year...had other numerous
softball awards and honors throughout her high school career...was
a member of the Oklahoma and National Honor Society.
