Sterling is in his second season with the Golden Eagles. He has promising skills as a runner and has showed consistent improvement in his times throughout the season. His future seasons will be just as bright and impressing as his first.
AT TECH (In 2011): Sterling ran in six meets for the Golden Eagles and showed consistent improvement throughout the season...peaked at the end of the season, running a season-best 8K time of 28:26 at the OVC Championships and turning in his best finish relative to his teammates at the NCAA South Regional, where he was the fourth Golden Eagle to finish the 10K with a time of 35:27...cut his TTU Invitational time of 30:05 by more than a minute at Jacksonville State, posting a 28:44, then sliced that time to 28:32 at Evansville.
HIGH SCHOOL: Sterling ran cross country and track and field at Karns High School under coach Christopher Cowan-Banker...set a 5K personal record of 16:54.00 at the Foot Locker South Regional on Nov. 27, 2010 and ran in the TSSAA State Cross Country Championships...in track and field, he ran the 800 meter, 1600 meter and 3200 meter...set a personal-record time of 4:49.57 at the TSSAA Section 1AAA Championships on May 13, 2011.
