2022-23 (R-Sophomore – Southern U.): Woods competed in 26 of the team’s 32 games, averaging 11.3 minutes per game… averaged 2.4 points, 1.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.7 steals per game… shot 31.8 percent from the field, 25.7 percent from distance, and 75.0 percent from the charity stripe… turned in a season-high 12 points on 3-for-4 shooting and a 2-for-2 mark from deep at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Jan. 21)… hauled in season-best three rebounds three times… racked up a season-high six assists and three steals against LSU-Alexandria (Dec. 10)… also distributed six helpers in just 10 minutes of action against Alcorn (Jan. 28)… scored 10 points with five dimes in 23 minutes off the bench against Texas Southern (Feb. 13)… recorded five or more assists six times.

2021-22 (Sophomore – Southern U.): Woods sat out the 2021-22 season as a redshirt.

2020-21 (Freshman – Southern U.): Woods played in four of the team’s 19 games on the year, averaging 12.8 minutes of action… averaged 1.3 points and 2.0 assists per game… finished 2-for-12 from the floor and 1-for-8 from downtown on the year… made his collegiate debut with two dimes and a rebound in nine minutes off the bench at Arkansas (Dec. 9)… played a season-high 19 minutes and scored his first career bucket at UAB (Dec. 16)… posted season-best marks of three points and six assists against Grambling (Feb. 6).

High School: Woods competed at Dunham High School in Baton Rouge, La. as a senior for head coach Jonathan Pixeley, at DeLand High School in DeLand, Fla. as a junior for head coach Sebastian Singletary, and at Rowan County High School in Morehead, Ky. as a freshman and sophomore for head coach Shawn Thacker… spent one post graduate season at Core4Prep Academy in Atlanta… helped lead Dunham to a 32-6 record and runner-up finish at the LHSAA Division III championship game… averaged 14.3 points and 9.1 assists per game as a senior, earning All-District (2A-8) First Team honors… as a junior, led DeLand to a 22-7 mark as a junior… picked up All-District (7A-2) First Team accolades after averaging 9.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game as a junior… averaged 13.7 points, 6.4 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Rowan County, earning District MVP honors and an All-Region nod… led RCHS to a 26-10 record that season.

Personal: Son of Dashaynia and Sean Woods… born in Lexington, Ky. on March 30, 2001… full name is DeSean Lavell Woods… father, Sean Woods, was teammates with Tennessee Tech head coach John Pelphrey at Kentucky, played for the Wildcats from 1989-92, had his #11 jersey retired, and was inducted into the UK Athletic Hall of Fame… father, Sean, served as head coach at Mississippi Valley State (2008-12), Morehead State (2012-17), and Southern University (2018-23)… brother, Martiese Morones, played basketball at TCU from 2006-08, served as a graduate manager under Sean Woods at Morehead State from 2012-15, and was an assistant under Woods at Southern from 2018-21.
