High School: Javon earned four varsity letters at Dunwoody High School in Dunwoody, Georgia under Scott Bracco and Adam Griffin. During his senior season, his team went 21-4 while McKay averaged 17.4 points, 11.2 rebounds and two assists per game. He was honored as a McDonalds All-American nominee, a member of the Gaca All-Star Team, the Dekalb County All-Star team, a Dekalb County Player of the Month and Player of the Year, and his team's Most Outstanding Player and Most Improved Player. McKay helped to fuel his team to two regional championships, and appearances in the elite eight and final four during his freshman and sophomore campaigns.
