Despite a strong challenge for his job, Zach spent a second season as the Golden Eagle placekicker and enjoyed another strong year in 2012...shared duties by yielding the kickoffs while handling all field goals and PATs...an experienced, record-setting kicker, he will battle to keep his role again in 2013...has a strong leg with great range and constantly working to improve his strength and accuracy...through two years, he has made 15-for-26 field goals and 92-for-93 PATs...made an appearance on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in the fall of 2012.

AT TECH (IN 2012): Zach handled all of the team's placekicking duties as a sophomore while Chris Harris took over the kickoff chores...led the team in points with 64...was six-for-11 on field goals with along of 39 yards...was perfect in his PATs, going 46-for-46...ranked eighth in the OVC in kick scoring... tied for first in the OVC in PAT percentage...kicked a pair of field goals in the victory against Hampton (28 and 25 yards)...made three of his final four field goals including a clutch 39-yarder in the overtime victory against UT Martin...kicked from the hold of several different holders due to injuries, a factor that played a role in some of his misses.

(In 2011): Zach proved himself incredibly valuable during the Golden Eagles' championship season, stepping in as a true freshman and seeing significant time on the field in all 11 contests...put 46 of 47 PATs through the uprights for a 97.9 PAT kicking percentage (second in the conference)...set the school single-season record with his 46 successful PATs...led the OVC in PAT attempts made...finished the season tied for fifth in the conference in scoring with 6.6 points per game...tied for third in the OVC in kicking with 6.6 points per game...went 9-for-15 in field goal attempts on the season, including nailing a 49-yard FG against Tennessee State...had 16 points on four PATs and four field goals that game.

BEFORE TECH: Zach was an invaluable member of the team at Maryville High School as the team’s placekicker...a first-team all-state selection...named Tennessee Mr. Football on special teams...in his senior year, he was 10-for-13 on field goal tries with a long of 50 yards...was 66-for-67 in PAT kicks...starting kicker for Maryville for four seasons, beginning his career with a Class 4A state championship victory in 2007...capped his career in December in Tucker Stadium with his team’s 6A title win over Smyrna...set a state record by making 111 consecutive PAT kicks, and many of his kickoffs sailed for touchbacks.
