Bud Golden joined the Golden Eagle roster in 2011, a transfer from the University of Illinois...spent two years at Illinois including a redshirt in 2009...was on the roster in 2011 when Tech played at Iowa, but did not see action in that game, so his first career game at TTU against a Big Ten foe will come at Wisconsin (Sept. 7), a team Illinois did not face in 2010...has increased his strength and heads into the season healthy and in the best physical shape of his career...listed as the projected starter at the "B" runningback spot.

AT TECH (IN 2012): Bud was featured in eight of Tech's 11 contests, including three consecutive starts to close out the season... accumulated 327 yards on 74 carries with two touchdowns...also had 21 yards on four receptions...scored his first Golden Eagle touchdown (Sept. 29) at Murray State when he posted his career-high game with nine carries for 63 yards...had 45 yards on seven carries against Jacksonville State...posted 50 yards on 10 totes against Eastern Illinois and 51 on 11 carries against Austin Peay.

(In 2011): Bud rushed for 20 yards on 11 carries over the course of nine games in his debut season with the Golden Eagles...top performance came against UT Martin with 15 yards on six carries...logged 198 yards on 10 kick returns, including a 33-yard return against TSU on Oct. 15...put up 218 all-purpose yards for the year.

AT ILLINOIS: Bud sat out one season and played one season for the Fighting Illini...after a redshirt season in 2009, the standout from Cincinnati played in all 13 games for the Fighting Illini in 2010, primarily on special teams...finished with 32 rushing yards on eight carries, and one reception for 12 yards...also returned four kicks for 52 yards...career-high game was six carries for 29 yards and a catch for 12 yards in Illinois' 44-10 win over Purdue.

HIGH SCHOOL: Golden posted impressive high school credentials at Sycamore High School, which also gave Tech current Golden Eagle Marty Jones and former Tech standouts Dwight Evans and Alden Olverson...Golden was a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, listed as the 19th-highest rated tailback by the website...some sources had him listed as the eighth-best high school player in Ohio...in his senior campaign, Golden rushed for 1,513 yards with 19 touchdowns, and finished with a school-record 3,000 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns...went to Illinois after being recruited by Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Cincinnati, and Purdue.
