A mid-year addition to the team in January 2009, Matt quickly emerged as a talented player ready to see action among the Golden Eagle linebackers...gained valuable experience as a true freshman in 2009 despite injuries...saw playing time in all 11 games as a newcomer...missed all of 2010 spring drills with injury, but returned to the field to play in all 11 games in 2010...tough, hard-nosed player who goes hard on every snap...smart player with good football sense...high expectations for his final seasons...an aggressive and physical player, he will also contribute on all of Tech's special teams...gives among the most consistent efforts on the practice field...was on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the 2010 fall semester.

AT TECH (In 2011:) Saw action in nine games including making a start in the team's season opener at Iowa on Sept. 3...made two tacles that game, 17 total on the season...had three solo stops to his credit...assisted on one tackle-for-loss for one yard at UT Martin...had four stops in back-to-back games at UT Martin and against Tennessee State...

AT TECH (In 2010): Matt played a big part in the Golden Eagle defense as a sophomore, seeing action in all 11 games in a reserve role...piled up 27 total tackles...had four tackles against UT Martin, then made five stops against both Eastern Illinois and Jacksonville State.

AT TECH (In 2009):
Matt earned the start at UT Martin in mid-season, and saw action in all 11 contests in his first season...posted 26 total tackles...also had 4.0 tackles-for-loss...season-best was six tackles at Eastern Illinois...had four tackles against UT Martin and Pikeville.

HIGH SCHOOL: A first-team All-State selection at Lincoln County High School...named all-region and voted the region's Offensive and Defensive MVP...had 123 total tackles as a senior and wrapped up his career playing in the East/West All-Star game...team captain, he was the team's overall MVP and Defensive MVP...named first-team All-Midstate...his junior season included second-team All-Midstate honors, all-region and regional Defensive MVP...named Lakeway Publishers Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and Player of the Year as a senior...also earned one letter on the wrestling team and one on the track & field squad.
