With a variety of skills, Zach will be an important player in the Golden Eagle offense as a junior...returning starter at the inside receiver position, he can deliver big plays as a receiver or a ball carrier...a bigger, more powerful back at his position...can run over defenders...great speed and strength...has used his time well in the weight room and increased his strength as a Golden Eagle...excellent receiver...solid player who knows the game well.
AT TECH (In 2010): An important piece in Tech's
offensive system, Zach played in all 11 games and started eight
contests...lined up at the inside receiver position and proved to
be effective as both a ball carrier and pass receiver...had 26
carries for 74 yards and one touchdown...caught 16 passes for 174
yards and two more touchdowns...piled up 284 all-purpose
yards...caught five passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in the
final game of the season, Tech's come-from-behind victory over
Jacksonville State...for the second straight year, his top game was
against the Gamecocks with 87 all-purpose yards...had a huge
19-yard tochdown catch in the road win at Tennessee State, powering
his way into the end zone...rushing tochdown came on a 17-yard run
at Austin Peay...Tech won all three games in which Zach scroed
touchdowns.
(In 2009): Zack played in eight games and was a
contributor to the Golden Eagle offense in a variety of
ways...fifth on the team in rushing, carrying the ball 17 times for
71 yards and one touchdown.. also handled nine passes for 128
yards...best performance came at Jacksonville State with 100
all-purpose yards...rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on 12
carries and caught three passes for 32 yards...also returned a kick
for 17 yards.
HIGH SCHOOL: A Class 3A first-team All-State
selection as a senior by the Tennnessee Sportswriters Association,
Zack was named all-region in both 2007 as a junior and 2008 as a
senior...also voted All-Robertson County both years...as a senior,
he won the team’s Most Versatile Player and Offensive Player
of the Year awards, and also won the Robertson County Player of the
Year...named to the U.S. Army preseason All-Academic team, he was a
Murphy Fair Mid-State Player of the Week... named Robertson County
Player of the Week 13 times throughout his career, piling up 2,100
rushing yards and 452 receiving yards...scored 32 touchdowns...on
defense he had 132 total tackles and seven interceptions...during
his senior season, he had 202 carries for 1,277 yards and caught 19
passes for 284 yards...crossed the goal line 16 times, and also
made 38 tackles while on defense...also lettered three times on the
track & field team.
