Charlie returns for his senior season and lends plenty of
experience to the backfield...will line up a the "W" position, a
hybrid fullback/tigh end spot in Tech's multiple offensive
system...strong runner and outstanding blocker...the most
experienced of the players in the mix at that position...had
another outstanding spring...can really deliver some punishing
blocks...used primarily as a blocker but has proven he can be a
threat as a receiver or ball carrier...good hands and a valuable
"up" man on kick return team...has worked extremely hard in the
weight room and has seen good development in his size and his
strength...originally a walk-on, he brings a great attitude to the
field...will also see playing time on special teams...will be on
the field in short yardage situations...a role player with good
physical skills and lots of hustle...a prototype blocking
back...good team player and very unselfish...has been on the
Athletic Director's Honor Roll two of the past four semesters.
AT TECH (In 2010): Charlie was the go-to guy in
short yardage situations as a blocking back...did not have any
carries or catches, but lined up as an up-man on kickoffs and
returned two kicks for eight yards.
(In 2009): Played in 10 games at fullback...didn't have
any carries...caught one pass for a 16-yard gain at Kansas State.
(In 2008): Charlie played in a limited role at fullback
in his first season on the field...caught one pass for six
yards.
(In 2007): Was a redshirt on the 2007 squad in
his first season with the Golden Eagles.
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterman in both
football and wrestling at David Lipscomb High School...played a
variety of positions on the gridiron for coach Glenn MacAdams,
including strong safety and defensive end, runningback and tight
end...wrestled at five different weights, ranging from 145 to
heavyweight...named all-region as a junior and senior in
football...helped the team post a combined 52-7 four-year record,
finishing as region champs all four years and state runnerup three
times.
