2024 (Junior – Cornerstone University): Vega made 11 appearances with 10 starts on the mound while competing in 42 of the team’s 49 games in the field with 39 total starts… established himself as the team’s top hurler, pacing the squad with a WHAC-leading 8-2 record, 2.92 ERA ( ranked third in the league), 61.2 innings pitched, 72 strikeouts, and a .245 opponent batting average… with the bat, ranked second on the team with a .326 average and third with a .409 on-base percentage… also tallied a .432 slugging percentage and .841 OPS… finished the year with 31 hits, five doubles, a triple, a long ball, 25 runs, 15 RBI, 12 walks, and a perfect 8-for-8 showing on stolen bases… hurled four seven-inning complete games on the year, including a pair of shutouts… tossed his first shut-piece with 7.0 innings of four-hit ball and eight strikeouts against Trinity Baptist [FL] (Mar. 8), earning league honors along the way… completed his second shutout with a career-high-tying 10 strikeouts, just one walk, and five hits allowed at Lourdes (Mar. 23)… also fanned 10 batters in 6.0 innings of work versus Mount Marty (Mar. 2), allowing just one earned marker for the win… tallied wins in his other two complete games of work, tossing 7.0 frames with six punch-outs and three runs allowed at Madonna (Mar. 30) and 7.0 more with eight Ks and one earned run surrendered against Concordia [MI] (Apr. 13)… picked up his lone save of the year after completing 0.2 innings at Aquinas [MI] (Apr. 17)… struck out six or more batters eight times and covered at least 5.0 innings in nine of his 10 starts… turned in a season-high four hits while finishing a home run shy of the cycle against Michigan-Dearborn (Mar. 29)… drove in a career-best four runs while finishing 3-for-3 with three runs and a triple shy of the cycle in the second game of a doubleheader against Rochester (Apr. 19)… on the same day, went 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts and 2-for-2 at the plate with three runs scored in the first contest with Rochester (Apr. 19)… notched multiple hits in eight games, drove in multiple runs four times, and scored multiple runs in seven contests.

2023 (Sophomore – Cornerstone University): Vega competed in 46 of the team’s 50 games, making 44 starts in the field, six appearances out of the bullpen, and two starts on the mound… as a batter, slashed .287/.357/.434 while compiling a .791 OPS… finished the year with 39 hits, five doubles, three triples, three home runs, 29 runs, 26 RBI, and five stolen bases… on the hill, finished 2-2 with a 4.11 ERA over 15.1 innings of work… picked up one save while striking out 22 batters and holding hitters to a .213 average… recorded a season-best three hits with a pair of RBI at Madonna (Apr. 22)… drove in a season-high four runs with two hits and a long ball against Hastings (Mar. 10)… scored a season-best three runs with two hits and two RBI against Dordt [IA] (Mar. 7)… secured a pair of swipes against Lawrence Tech (Apr. 14)… tallied multiple hits 11 times, scored multiple runs in seven games, and drove in multiple run seven times… made his first career appearance on the mound with 1.0 inning, two strikeouts, and one unearned run allowed against Grand View (Mar. 1)… struck out four batters in his first career start, covering 3.0 frames with four earned runs allowed against Grand View (Mar. 2)… earned his first career win following 3.1 innings of scoreless work out of the bullpen against Siena Heights (Apr. 4)… notched his first save the following week against Siena Heights (Apr. 10), covering 1.2 scoreless frames with just one hit allowed and five strikeouts… struck out a season-high six batters over a season-long 4.0 inning of work against Concordia [MI] (Apr. 25)… locked down his second win following 2.1 innings with just one base runner allowed against Michigan-Dearborn, piling up three strikeouts… fanned at least three batters in four appearances and tossed multiple frames in five contests.

2022 (Freshman – Cornerstone University): Vega played in 37 of Cornerstone’s 44 games, making 28 starts in the infield… hit .205 with a .272 on-base percentage… totaled 17 hits, 15 runs, a double, nine RBI, and 8 walks… laid down a team-high six sacrifice bunts on the year while stealing two bags… made his collegiate debut with a start against Mount Vernon Nazarene (Feb. 26)… piled up a season-high two hits in four contests… scored two runs twice, including a two-hit day against Judson (Mar. 4)… drove in a season-best two runs with a pair of knocks at Michigan-Dearborn (May 1).

High School: Vega competed as a middle infielder at the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy for head coach Omar Rosado in Gurabo, Puerto Rico… named team MVP as a sophomore after batting .370 with 12 RBI and 12 stolen bases… as a junior, hit .393 with 10 extra-base hits and 14 RBI… was runner up for MVP as a senior after batting .360 with 27 RBI and 18 walks… won a conference title as a senior.

Personal: Son of Gisala Rivera and Wilfredo Vega… born in Humacao, Puerto Rico on April 30, 2003… full name is Lucas Vega Rivera… led the Puerto Rican National Team to a silver medal at the U-23 World Cup.

Academic: Majoring in interdisciplinary studies… named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll once.
