2022 (Junior): Long played in 40 of the team’s 57 games, making 37 starts, including 36 games at catcher and one as the designated hitter… batted .225 with a .384 on-base percentage and .333 slugging percentage… finished the year with 29 hits, 22 runs, two doubles, four home runs, and 10 RBI… drew 28 walks… made just two errors on the year, compiling a .993 fielding percentage while throwing out 11 runners trying to steal… finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and walks in the season opener against Oral Roberts (Feb. 18)… scored a season-high three times while smashing a home run with two hits against North Alabama (Mar. 22)… also dented the dish three times as part of a 2-for-3 day with a long ball and two walks at Murray State (May 21)… drew a season-high three walks against Eastern Michigan (Feb. 25)… piled up multiple hits in eight games… scored multiple runs four times… drove in multiple runs twice… drew multiple walks in eight contests… did not make an error over the final 30 games of the year.

2021 (Sophomore*): Long competed in 34 of the team’s 47 games, making 19 total starts, including 16 games at catcher and three as the designated hitter… slashed .250/.374/.368… totaled 19 hits, nine runs, three doubles, two home runs, 14 RBI, and 15 walks… finished a perfect 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts… made just three errors, accounting for a .980 fielding percentage… threw out five runners attempting to steal… gathered a season-high two hits in three games… drew a career-high three walks in the second game of a doubleheader at Eastern Kentucky (May 1)… drove in a season-best two runs at North Alabama (Mar. 16) and again in the first contest of a double dip with Belmont (Apr. 25), collecting two hits in both games… smashed his first home run of the year in the second game of a DH at Kent State (Feb. 27)… crushed his second against Eastern Illinois (Mar. 21).

2020 (Sophomore): Long played in 14 of Tech’s 15 games, making 13 starts at catcher before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic… finished the year with a .214 batting average, .340 on-base percentage, and .381 slugging percentage… tallied one home run and four doubles while driving in four runs and scoring five… tied for the team lead with seven walks… put together a .982 fielding percentage with just two errors… racked up career-highs of four hits, two doubles and three RBI in the first game of a doubleheader against Bradley (Feb. 29)… launched his lone home run of the year at No. 29 Georgia Tech (Mar. 3).

2019 (Freshman): Long played in 16 games while making eight starts as a catcher in his first season with Tech… posted a batting average of .097, an on-base percentage of .222, and a slugging percentage of .226… totaled three hits, four runs, one double, one home runs, and two RBI… made his collegiate debut as a pinch hitter at Alabama A&M (Mar. 5)… started the first game of his career against Alabama A&M (Apr. 16), recording his first career hit and run scored… smashed his first career home run at Eastern Kentucky (May 3).

High School: Long lettered four years as a catcher and first baseman for head coaches Scott Hagy and Nick Lingerfelt at David Crockett High School… hit .406 as a sophomore and .354 in his junior campaign with 24 RBI, 18 walks, and 27 runs… for his career, hit .397 with six home runs, including a .277 mark with three bombs as a senior… earned All-Big-7 Conference recognition three times from 2015-18… named to the JC Press Super 22 team and the TBCA Team Tennessee… earned Perfect Game Preseason All-Region honors.

Personal: Son of Kevin and Jeanna Long… born January 11, 2000… full name is William Jacob Long… brother, John, played baseball at Tusculum College from 2014-16.

Academic: Majoring in exercise science and physical wellness with an emphasis in fitness and wellness… named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll five times and to the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice.
