2021 (Junior*): Sylvester made 13 starts and 15 total appearances on the mound in the team’s 47 games… finished with an 0-5 record and 6.44 ERA… tossed 50.1 innings with 39 strikeouts… allowed 36 earned, runs, 29 walks, and 56 hits while holding opponents to a .287 average… struck out a season-high five batters against Murray State (Apr. 1) and again in the first game of a doubleheader at Eastern Kentucky (May 1)… completed a season-best 6.1 innings at Jacksonville State (Mar. 26)… tossed 0.2 scoreless innings in relief in the first tilt of a double dip at College of Charleston (Apr. 10)… fanned three or more batters in six games… finished at least four innings seven times.

2020 (Junior): Sylvester appeared in four of Tech’s 15 games, making one start before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic… finished the year with a 0-0 record, one save and a 9.31 ERA… completed 9.2 innings with 10 strikeouts and seven walks… allowed 10 earned runs on 10 hits… held opponents to a .263 batting average… tossed 0.2 scoreless innings in his season debut in the first game of a doubleheader against Evansville (Feb. 15), earning his eighth career save… tossed a season-high 4.0 innings with four strikeouts against Bradley (Mar. 1)… made his second career start with 3.1 innings of work and four strikeouts at SIUE (Mar. 8).

2019 (Sophomore): Sylvester appeared in 18 games while making one start for the Golden Eagles… compiled an 0-3 record with a team-low 3.45 ERA and team-high three saves… completed 31.1 innings while totaling 30 strikeouts and 18 walks… allowed 12 earned runs and 28 hits while holding opposing batters to a .230 average… picked up his first save of the year in the second game of a doubleheader against Western Illinois (Feb. 16)… started the season with six-straight scoreless appearances… picked up saves in the second game of a doubleheader against SIUE (Mar. 10) and the first of a doubleheader against Morehead State (May 10)… made his first collegiate start while completing a season-high five innings with a season-high six strikeouts at Eastern Kentucky (May 5)… struck out three or more batters four times and multiple batters in seven contests… held opponents scoreless in 11 of his appearances… covered at least two innings in eight games.

2018 (R-Freshman): Sylvester made 21 appearances out of the bullpen in his first season in the purple and gold, finishing 3-1… logged the second-most appearances on the team, racking up four saves and a 5.04 ERA over 25.0 innings of work… allowed just 20 hits, 14 earned runs and 13 walks while fanning 25 and holding hitters to a miniscule .213 average… earned in the win in his collegiate debut, tossing 2.0 innings without allowing a baserunner against Illinois State (Feb. 24)… struck out a season-high four batters in 1.1 innings against Lipscomb (Feb. 27)… completed a season-best 3.1 innings with three strikeouts to earn a victory at Eastern Illinois (Apr. 1)… earned his first career save with a scoreless inning in the second game of a doubleheader against Austin Peay (Mar. 23)… punched out three batters in 1.1 innings on the hill in Tech’s victory at Vanderbilt (May 8)… held opponents scoreless in 11 appearances… held opposing batters without a hit in 10 games… set the program’s freshman saves record with four.

2017 (Freshman): Sylvester sat out the 2017 season as a redshirt.

High School: Sylvester was a four-year letterwinner as a pitcher, third baseman, and shortstop for head coach Tyrus Taylor at Southwest DeKalb High School… hit .470 with 28 RBI, nine doubles, and 19 stolen bases as a senior while striking out 53 batters on the hill… posted a batting average of .356 as a freshman, .407 as a sophomore and .328 as a junior… led his team to the regionals in 2015… earned Player of the Year honors as a senior while also taking home Male Athlete of the Year accolades… named both All-County First Team and All-State Second Team as a senior… took home 2014 Perfect Game Underclass Preseason All-American Honorable Mention honors, 2015 Perfect Game Underclass Preseason All-American Honorable Mention honors, 2016 Rawlings-Perfect Game All-American Honorable Mention honors, and 2016 Perfect Game All-Southeast Region Second Team honors.

Personal: Son of Anthony Sylvester Jr. and Demetris Whitehead… born December 25, 1997… full name is Tyler Tashun Sylvester… grandfather, Anthony Sr., played baseball for four years at Alabama A&M… father, Anthony Jr., played basketball for three years a Georgia Southern… half-brother, Theo Bryant IV, is a sophomore outfielder for the Tech baseball team.

Academic: Pursuing a master’s degree in professional studies with an emphasis in healthcare administration… earned his bachelor’s degree in EXPW/pre-occupational therapy in May 2020… named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll six times and to the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice… earned the OVC Medal of Honor once.
